Ray Bartkus est né en 1961 à Vilnius, en Lituanie. Depuis qu’il a obtenu son diplôme de graveur à l’Académie des arts de Vilnius, il crée des lithographies, des gravures et des dessins au crayon, et expose dans de nombreuses expositions personnelles et avec jury en Lituanie, en Pologne, en Allemagne, en France, aux États-Unis, au Canada et dans de nombreux autres pays. Il est également le concepteur du billet de 50 litas, qui était en circulation en Lituanie jusqu’en 2015.

Depuis 1991, il réside en permanence à New York avec sa femme Ina et son fils Kris. Ses gravures ont immédiatement attiré l’attention du directeur artistique du New York Times et il a commencé son travail avec le New York Times, qui s’est poursuivi pendant des décennies. Les illustrations de Ray apparaissent régulièrement sur les couvertures et les pages de nombreuses publications nationales et internationales telles que The Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, Harper’s, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, the New Republic, Smart Money, The Fortune, Businessweek, Courrier International et bien d’autres. De nombreuses illustrations éditoriales de Ray ont reçu de nombreux prix de la Society of Publication Designers, de la Society of Newspaper Designers et de la Society of Illustrators.

Soucieux d’élargir sa vision créative, Ray a commencé à consacrer davantage d’efforts à ses propres projets artistiques, qui comprennent de l’art numérique, des installations, des peintures à l’huile et des dessins. Ray s’est également impliqué dans l’organisation de collaborations entre musiciens et artistes indépendants et d’avant-garde. Il a contribué à la création de l’Independent Drawing Gig, un rassemblement d’artistes et de musiciens internationaux qui s’est déjà tenu à Vilnius (Lituanie), Skopje (Macédoine), La Haye (Pays-Bas), Séoul (Corée du Sud), Istanbul (Turquie) et New York. Ray organise et conserve MaLonNY : rassemblement annuel d’artistes, de musiciens et de designers de New York et de Londres à Marijampole, en Lituanie. L’artiste est un participant permanent aux événements des séminaires de Salzbourg organisés par l’Institut international de la paix, auxquels assistent des personnalités choisies dans le domaine de la politique, des médias et des affaires.

Ray Bartkus was born 1961 in Vilnius, Lithuania. Since graduating from Vilnius Art Academy as a printmaker, he has been creating lithographies, etchings and pencil drawings, and exhibiting in numerous juried and personal shows in Lithuania, Poland, Germany, France, USA, Canada and many other countries. He is also the designer of the 50 litas bill, which was in the circulation in Lithuania up until 2015.

Since 1991 he has resided permanently in New York City with his wife Ina and son Kris. Immediately his prints attracted the attention of the New York Times art director and he started his work with the New York Times, which continued for decades. Ray’s illustrations appeared regularly on the covers and pages of many national and international publications such as The Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, Harper’s, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, the New Republic, Smart Money, The Fortune, Businessweek, Courrier International and many others. Many of Ray’s editorial illustrations received numerous awards by the Society of Publication Designers, the Society of Newspaper Designers and the Society of Illustrators.

Seeking to expand his creative vision, Ray has begun devoting greater efforts to his own art projects, which include digital art, installations, oil paintings and drawings. Ray has also involved himself in organizing the collaborations between indie and avant-garde musicians and artists. He has helped create the Independent Drawing Gig, a gathering of international artists and musicians that has previously been held in Vilnius (Lithuania), Skopje (Macedonia), The Hague (The Netherlands), Seoul (South Korea), Istanbul (Turkey) and New York City. Ray organizes and curates MaLonNY: yearly gathering of artists, musicians and designers from New York City and London in Marijampole, Lithuania. Artist is a permanent participant at the events of Salzburg Seminars organized by International Peace Institute and attended by selected luminaries in the field of politics, media and business.

Ray Bartkus wurde 1961 in Vilnius, Litauen, geboren. Seit seinem Abschluss als Druckgrafiker an der Kunstakademie Vilnius hat er Lithografien, Radierungen und Bleistiftzeichnungen angefertigt und an zahlreichen jurierten und persönlichen Ausstellungen in Litauen, Polen, Deutschland, Frankreich, den USA, Kanada und vielen anderen Ländern teilgenommen. Er ist auch der Designer des 50-Litas-Scheins, der bis 2015 in Litauen im Umlauf war.

Seit 1991 lebt er mit seiner Frau Ina und seinem Sohn Kris dauerhaft in New York City. Seine Grafiken erregten sofort die Aufmerksamkeit des Artdirektors der New York Times, und er begann seine jahrzehntelange Zusammenarbeit mit der New York Times. Rays Illustrationen erschienen regelmäßig auf den Titelseiten und Seiten vieler nationaler und internationaler Publikationen wie The Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, Harper’s, Billboard, The Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, The New Republic, Smart Money, The Fortune, Businessweek, Courrier International und vielen anderen. Ray hat sich auch an der Organisation von Kollaborationen zwischen Indie- und Avantgarde-Musikern und -Künstlern beteiligt. Er war Mitbegründer des Independent Drawing Gig, einer Zusammenkunft internationaler Künstler und Musiker, die bereits in Vilnius (Litauen), Skopje (Mazedonien), Den Haag (Niederlande), Seoul (Südkorea), Istanbul (Türkei) und New York City stattgefunden hat. Ray organisiert und kuratiert MaLonNY: ein jährliches Treffen von Künstlern, Musikern und Designern aus New York City und London in Marijampole, Litauen. Der Künstler ist ständiger Teilnehmer an den Salzburger Seminaren, die vom Internationalen Friedensinstitut organisiert und von ausgewählten Persönlichkeiten aus Politik, Medien und Wirtschaft besucht werden.

Dopo essersi diplomato all’Accademia d’Arte di Vilnius come stampatore, ha creato litografie, acqueforti e disegni a matita, esponendo in numerose mostre personali e giurie in Lituania, Polonia, Germania, Francia, Stati Uniti, Canada e molti altri Paesi. È anche il disegnatore della banconota da 50 litas, in circolazione in Lituania fino al 2015.

Dal 1991 risiede stabilmente a New York con la moglie Ina e il figlio Kris. Immediatamente le sue stampe hanno attirato l’attenzione del direttore artistico del New York Times ed è iniziata la sua collaborazione con il New York Times, che è proseguita per decenni. Le illustrazioni di Ray sono apparse regolarmente sulle copertine e sulle pagine di molte pubblicazioni nazionali e internazionali come il Wall Street Journal, Time, Newsweek, Harper’s, Billboard, Los Angeles Times, Boston Globe, New Republic, Smart Money, The Fortune, Businessweek, Courrier International e molte altre. El artista participa permanentemente en los eventos de los Seminarios de Salzburgo, organizados por el Instituto Internacional de la Paz, a los que asisten algunas personalidades del ámbito de la política, los medios de comunicación y los negocios.
