Daniel Cuervo (Pravia, Asturies, Espagne, 1972) est entré en 1990 à la Faculté des Beaux-Arts de Barcelone, ville où il vit encore aujourd’hui. Diplômé en 1995, il appartient à une génération de peintres marquée par l’exposition anthologique d’Antonio López au Musée Reina Sofía (Madrid) en 1992. Et plus tard par les hyperréalistes américains, principalement Davis Cone et Richard Estes.
Toute son œuvre a pour thème principal le paysage urbain, de jour comme de nuit. Barcelone, sa ville, est la plus représentée dans ses œuvres, mais aussi d’autres, comme Madrid, Pampelune et Saint-Sébastien, où il a organisé des expositions individuelles au cours de la première décennie de ce siècle. À partir de 2010, en conséquence de la crise économique de 2008, il a entrepris un parcours d’internationalisation avec différentes galeries, s’arrêtant pour exposer et peindre des métropoles comme Londres, Paris et New York.
L’œuvre de Daniel Cuervo défie la précision visuelle avec d’innombrables coups de pinceau qui disparaissent sur la toile.
Même si ses « Scènes de ville » ne représentent qu’un instant, elles ne révèlent pas ce qui pourrait être remarqué avec une brève attention mais avec une longue période de contemplation. La maturité artistique atteinte ces dernières années se reflète dans un regard paysager ni critique ni nostalgique, témoignage d’une réalité qu’il sublime, sans en changer ni en cacher le moindre détail. Il n’y a pas de hiérarchie visuelle mais plutôt un portrait très fidèle réalisé avec une précision qui dépasse la capacité de perception de l’œil humain. Les repères architecturaux, le mobilier urbain, les voitures et les passants lui donnent l’occasion de concevoir succinctement des formes géométriques articulées qui relatent généralement une séquence syncopée qui reflète les rythmes sous-jacents de la vie moderne.

Il est actuellement représenté par la galerie Pigmet à BCN et Anthony Brunelli Fine Arts à NY.

Graduated in 1995, he belongs to a generation of painters marked by the anthological exhibition of Antonio López at the Reina Sofía Museum (Madrid) in 1992. And later by the American hyperrealists, mainly Davis Cone and Richard Estes.
All his work has as its main theme the urban landscape, both day and night. Barcelona, his city, is the most represented in his works, but also others, such as Madrid, Pamplona and San Sebastián, where he held individual exhibitions in the first decade of this century. As of 2010, as a consequence of the economic crisis of 2008, he undertook a path of internationalization with different galleries, starying to exhibit and paint metropolises such as London, Paris and New York.
Daniel Cuervo’s work challenges visual accuracy with countless brushstrokes that vanish over the canvas.
Even though its “City Scenes” represent no more than a moment, they do not reveal what could be noticed with brief attention but with a long period of contemplation. The artistic maturity achieved in the last years is reflected in a landscape eye that is neither critical nor nostalgic, the testimony of a reality that he sublimates, without changing or hiding the slightest detail. There is no visual hierarchy but rather a very faithful portrait done with a pinpoint accuracy that exceeds the capacity to perceive of the human eye. The architectural landmarks, urban furniture, cars, and bystanders allow him the opportunity to succinctly conceive articulated geometric shapes that usually relate a syncopated sequence that reflects the underlying rhythms of modern life.

Daniel Cuervo (Pravia, Asturien, Spanien, 1972) studierte ab 1990 an der Fakultät der Schönen Künste in Barcelona, der Stadt, in der er heute noch lebt. Er schloss sein Studium 1995 ab und gehört zu einer Generation von Malern, die durch die Anthologie-Ausstellung von Antonio López im Museum Reina Sofía (Madrid) im Jahr 1992 geprägt wurde. Und später von den amerikanischen Hyperrealisten, vor allem Davis Cone und Richard Estes.
Das Hauptthema all seiner Werke ist die Stadtlandschaft bei Tag und bei Nacht. Barcelona, seine Heimatstadt, ist in seinen Werken am stärksten vertreten, aber auch andere Städte wie Madrid, Pamplona und San Sebastián, wo er im ersten Jahrzehnt dieses Jahrhunderts Einzelausstellungen hatte. Ab 2010, als Folge der Wirtschaftskrise von 2008, schlug er einen Weg der Internationalisierung mit verschiedenen Galerien ein, indem er weiterhin in Metropolen wie London, Paris und New York ausstellte und malte.
Daniel Cuervos Werk fordert die visuelle Genauigkeit mit unzähligen Pinselstrichen heraus, die über der Leinwand verschwinden.
Auch wenn seine « City Scenes » nur einen Augenblick darstellen, offenbaren sie nicht das, was man bei kurzer Aufmerksamkeit, sondern bei längerer Betrachtung wahrnehmen könnte. Die künstlerische Reife, die er in den letzten Jahren erlangt hat, spiegelt sich in einem Landschaftsblick wider, der weder kritisch noch nostalgisch ist, das Zeugnis einer Realität, die er sublimiert, ohne auch nur das kleinste Detail zu verändern oder zu verbergen. Es gibt keine visuelle Hierarchie, sondern vielmehr ein sehr getreues Porträt, das mit einer Genauigkeit erstellt wurde, die die Wahrnehmungsfähigkeit des menschlichen Auges übersteigt. Die architektonischen Wahrzeichen, das Stadtmobiliar, die Autos und die Passanten geben ihm die Möglichkeit, auf prägnante Weise gegliederte geometrische Formen zu entwerfen, die in der Regel eine synkopische Sequenz erzählen, die den zugrunde liegenden Rhythmus des modernen Lebens widerspiegelt.

I punti di riferimento architettonici, l’arredo urbano, le automobili e i passanti gli danno l’opportunità di concepire in modo succinto forme geometriche articolate che di solito mettono in relazione una sequenza sincopata che riflette i ritmi di fondo della vita moderna.

Los hitos arquitectónicos, el mobiliario urbano, los coches y los transeúntes le permiten concebir sucintamente formas geométricas articuladas que suelen relatar una secuencia sincopada que refleja los ritmos subyacentes de la vida moderna.
