John Salt (né en 1937 à Birmingham, en Angleterre, et mort en 2021 à Shrewsbury, en Angleterre) est un artiste britannique qui a obtenu son M.F.A. au Maryland Institute College of Art.

Salt se concentre sur le paysage rural américain, souvent à différents stades de déclin.

Ces œuvres ont une qualité solennelle et obsédante. Il utilise une technique de peinture unique parmi les photoréalistes qui consiste à pulvériser la peinture sur la toile à travers des pochoirs.

Salt a beaucoup exposé depuis les années 1960 et, après vingt ans passés à New York, il est retourné en Angleterre.

Salt’s focus is on the rural American landscape, often in various stages of decline.

These works have a solemn and haunting quality.

He employs a painting technique unique among the Photorealists of spraying the paint through stencils onto the canvas. Salt has exhibited widely since the 1960s and after twenty years in New York City. has returned to England

Salt konzentriert sich auf die ländliche amerikanische Landschaft, oft in verschiedenen Stadien des Verfalls.

Diese Werke haben eine feierliche und eindringliche Qualität.

Er wendet eine unter den Fotorealisten einzigartige Maltechnik an, bei der die Farbe durch Schablonen auf die Leinwand gesprüht wird. Salt hat seit den 1960er Jahren viel ausgestellt und ist nach zwanzig Jahren in New York City nach England zurückgekehrt.

L’artista impiega una tecnica pittorica unica tra i fotorealisti, che consiste nello spruzzare la pittura attraverso stencil sulla tela. Salt ha esposto ampiamente a partire dagli anni Sessanta e, dopo vent’anni trascorsi a New York, è tornato in Inghilterra.
